Contributing to development of sustainable towns through education, and healthcare and nursing

Gakken Group promotes Gakken’s Community-based Integrated Care System with the aim of creating a society where everyone can continue to live with peace of mind in the local communities they are familiar with. We are engaged in various initiatives to create communities where people can live in ways that suit them, regardless of generation or physical and mental condition. This applies to everyone from newborns, to child rearing families, to aging people, to people with severe dementia, to those requiring a high degree of elderly care, and to those with disabilities. In February 2021, Suita Sustainable Smart Town opened in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture. Gakken Group is developing Gakken Multigenerational Square Suita SST, a wellness complex that brings together and provides high-quality services such as serviced apartments for the elderly, group homes for the elderly with dementia, authorized nursery schools, and learning centers.

Promoting Energy Efficiency in Buildings with BELS and ZEB

As part of our commitment to the SDGs, SYSCARE Co., Ltd. has set the goal of reducing energy consumption at new Gakken Group facilities by 50% by 2030, while generating all remaining energy with energy creation to conserve limited resources. First, aiming to reduce energy consumption by 30% by 2025, we are analyzing the current energy-saving performance of facilities (buildings) with BELS, and are considering measures to achieve this goal. We are also in the process of building facilities that comply with ZEB (net-zero energy building) standards.

BELS is the Building-Housing Energy-efficiency Labeling System,
a system in which a third-party evaluation agency evaluates
and certifies the energy-saving performance of new and existing buildings.

Urban Development through the Gakken's Community-based Integrated Care System

Gakken's Community-based Integrated Care System integrates the Group's resources, including senior housing, nursing care, welfare for disabled children, childcare support, healthcare and nursing content, educational services, and human capital development, with a base of serviced senior residences, and provides comprehensive lifestyle support in collaboration with the community. Gakken provides services that enable people to live the life they deserve at any stage of life, from 0 to over 100 years old.

The vision we hold for the future town is one where individuals can comfortably reside in their familiar neighborhoods throughout their lives. Within this community setting, various generations can engage with one another, fostering connections and interactions.
This future town, which we envision at the heart of our goals, embodies the ideals of Gakken Group.
